Fire protection | "Quartier Rauchmühle" Salzburg

A real eye-catcher

With maxit ip 160, the fire protection upgrade of the historic mill structure was successfully completed. Thanks to the fast processing time and high efficiency, the goal of preserving the historic value of the "Rauchmühle" while bringing fire protection up to the latest standards was achieved in a short period of time.

High standards in every respect

The “Rauchmühle” in Salzburg has a long and significant history dating back to the 14th century. During the renovation of the ‘Altes Mühlhaus’ (old mill house) on the Rauchmühle site, one of the biggest challenges was to upgrade the existing ceiling structures, which had been fitted with reinforced concrete columns and beams during previous renovations, to meet fire safety standards while preserving the character of the building in terms of building material selection and design. A simple, gypsum-free and, above all, tested solution was sought for this purpose.

maxit ip 160 – efficiency and quality

The choice fell on maxit ip 160 fire protection plaster, a purely mineral and ecological product known for its easy application. maxit ip 160 proved to be particularly suitable as it was compatible with the structural requirements and could be adapted both to the surface design and to the specific requirements of the construction site. maxit ip 160 was applied in a layer thickness of 20–30 mm to the required surfaces. The reinforced concrete ceilings were finished with a rough sprayed surface, while the beams and reinforced concrete columns were given a felted surface to achieve the required surface quality.
