New stone floor for the Kongresshalle (congress hall) Leipzig

maxit helps to shape the reopening of the Kongresshalle

As part of the "1000 Years of Leipzig" celebration, the historic and glorious Leipzig Kongresshalle (congress hall) was reopened in May 2015. Frequently used in the 20th century as a venue for concerts as well as a trade fair hall, the congress hall then experienced a downturn. The citizens' initiative "Kongresshalle" under the auspices of the city and the trade fair have now successfully countered this.

Several years before the reopening of the significant house in Leipzig, consultations were already underway regarding its design. The dilapidated building was to be made permanently usable again. These preliminary discussions also concerned the design of the floors. The result: in the large exhibition hall under the great hall, a stone floor with a uniformly light appearance was to be installed on a cavity floor. A lot of detailed work and expert advice were required for an optimal solution.

The DucoPlan© DF 1 system, co-developed by maxit, was successfully proposed and sampled. The sophisticated system was applied in a double epoxy resin-primed glass fabric layer. In this way, the floor is protected against cracks and loads are optimally distributed. The floor was installed by a certified partner company of maxit, which perfectly solved the problem of working on slopes and coating stairs. The installation of DucoPlan© DF 1 was constantly accompanied by machine and application technicians as well as experts from the maxit laboratory. As a result, the floor of the exhibition hall shines in a new guise; namely as a "stone floor with a uniform light look", exactly as planned and specified by the architect's office.
